My Story

I spent most of my teens and early adulthood struggling with low self-esteem and feeling like I didn’t fit in, battling with anxiety and masking to cover up what people described as my “oversensitivity” and “hypochondria”.

That was until I was mugged and found myself in a counselling session with suspected PTSD. I was one of those people who thought, “Why would I ever need counselling? I’m fine…” But there I was…

Needless to say, I found my sessions life changing. I learnt how to manage anxiety, harness my emotions and channel my energy in productive ways, excelling in my job as a digital content producer for the BBC and feeling more connected to people.

Jenny Southall, psychotherapist, counsellor and supervisor in her therapy room in Barnett

Fast forward a few years and I decided to train as a Psychotherapist myself. I got married and became a mum. It was then I began to specialise in supporting clients to overcome anxiety and relationship difficulties.

A few years ago, my two children were diagnosed with ASC and ADHD and it was then that the penny dropped. I also had ADHD.

Living with ADHD can feel like an uphill battle, but you're not alone. I've been where you are, and I understand the challenges you face. I look back on the procrastination that held me back, memory issues that affected my work, the odd ways I organised myself, my anti-social habits, my lateness, my constant whistling (ask my husband!)…. The list goes on!

But here’s the good news: I’ve turned ADHD around, and I’m here to help you do the same. With over 5 years of experience specialising in ADHD and ASC clients and supporting families with their own neurodiverse children, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the amazing potential of the ASC/ADHD brain.

I’ve had the privilege of learning with experts worldwide and adapting these approaches specifically to support people. I find my work extremely rewarding and it’s a passion that fires me up every single day.
